Missions and Outreach
There are three things we embrace at Canyon Hills Friends Church:
- Great Commission
- Finding and training people that will help support the Great Commission
- Sending out people that will accomplish the Great Commission
First, we embrace the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in a the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
At Canyon Hills we embrace the great commission by tithing and providing our resources of time and energy. We want to do our part to fulfill the Great Commission. Ten percent of our budget goes towards supporting missions in different capacities.
We support Evangelical Friends Church Southwest (our Yearly Meeting) who supports missionaries and church planting. Additionally, Canyon Hills supports Evangelical Friends Mission who aids missionaries and church planting. In fact, we support direct mission fields including:
- Juárez, Chihuahua Mexico
- Campus Crusade for Christ
- Homeless Ministry in Long Beach
- Canning Hunger
- Ecuador – Youth World
Second, we feel it is important for every church to find those who are gifted and called to missions. Ephesians 4:12-13 – “To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
We want to support the theology that man needs to be saved and taught about God. This includes training and supporting.
Third, we want to release them to do the work God has called them to do. Mark 9:14 – “I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.”
We want to minister to the totality of human need. As we hear and see God at work in so many different places. We aim to “Reach all the nations starting with Jerusalem, Samaria, Judea and all the ends of the earth.”

The Compassion Ministry at Canyon Hills Friends Church is focused on ministering to the prayer needs and crisis needs in our congregation and servant community. Through this ministry we communicate and organize the processes to connect people willing to give time, ability, and resources to those in need.
If you have a heart for helping people, and the ability to organize and follow-up with individual needs in our congregation, this ministry is for you. For more information as to how you can serve in our Compassion Ministries or if you need assistance, please contact Canyon Hills today.
The Long Beach Outreach is an opportunity to feed and share with homeless and under-resourced people in the Long Beach area. Canyon Hills feeds over 200 people on the second Sunday of every other month. We prepare and cook meals as well as participate in joint worship services with Long Beach Inner City Ministry.
The goal of our sister church in Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico is to evangelize, restore, and disciple the lost in the name of Jesus Christ. Ministerio De Restauración Mahanaim (Restoration Ministry in God’s Field) is located in the outskirts of Juárez and serves primarily in under-privileged area. Mahanaim, as they refer to themselves, currently operates a feeding ministry that feeds over 100 children two meals per day, three times per week. They also offer vocational training including sewing and hair styling to help equip their community.
We believe that over the next few years through Pastors Sergio and Nancy Cardona’s vision, Mahanaim will continue to grow and restore lives in the city of Juárez. This growth will happen as we empower them into greater ministry with knowledge and resources so that they might have hope and envision a new future.
Canyon Hills is helping transform lives by helping Mahanaim with education, health care, social justice, vocational training, and economic development. We currently lead mission teams to the city of Juárez at least three times per year. Ministerio De Restauracion Mahanaim is the first Friends Church in Northern Mexico.
Canyon Hills, in conjunction with Evangelical Friends Mission, oversees and provides spiritual encouragement to Philippines Evangelical Friends Churches throughout Metro Manila, Luzon, Palawan, and Samar. PEFC currently operates 18 Friends churches under the leadership of Cris and Sonja De La Cruz – the Senior Pastors of Pasig Friends Church. Canyon Hills is supporting PEFC by helping them launch a new structure as they identify new leaders. We currently sponsor and lead an annual Pastors and Wives’ retreat where we encourage, equip, and develop new leaders as well as unify their existing leaders.
