Alpha Group Eating Together

A First Step to Life Groups

Whether you are brand new to your faith or a seasoned Bible reader, Alpha is the perfect place to come and ask any questions you may have about faith, spirituality, and God without feeling judged or pressured. In this small group setting, you will be able to ask the important questions you may have always had but were too afraid to say out loud in fear of a constant argument over differing opinions and beliefs. We believe Alpha is the first step to joining a Life Group here at Canyon Hills Friends and encourage you to register for this group before joining a life Group.

Alpha Group Discussing Together

What Is Alpha?

Alpha is a place to explore the Christian faith with others. It is a low pressure environment to discuss the big questions in life. Every Alpha session last 10 weeks and has three key ingredients: food, talk, and discussion. So what does that look like?

Food Icon

Food
Alpha is relational, and there is nothing that builds on relationships like sharing food together. Each Alpha session starts with a meal.

Talking Icon

Talk
Every week there is a talk delivered in person or video episode that explores the basics of the Christian faith.

Discussion Icon

Discussion
After the talk is a time of discussion in small groups where you can share your thoughts and questions.

Alpha & Rooted: What Is the Difference?

While both of these groups may seem similar, they are actually very different. Alpha will help you understand the basics of Jesus and the Bible as you spend time with a diverse group of people who are wrestling with the same questions you are. Rooted is a spiritual growth experience that provides the structure and support you need to establish simple habits essential to a healthy, authentic relationship with God. If this is your first time joining a life group, we strongly suggest you start with Alpha, then take Rooted, and then get plugged into one of our other small group offerings each session.
